Operations Division Commander
Uniform Patrol Section - The Uniform Patrol Section is administered by the Operations Captain. This section is comprised of four squads, each being lead by a Patrol Sergeant. The Uniform Patrol Section is charged with the major function of the Police Department; the prevention and suppression of crime and as such, shall have primary responsibility for preserving peace, protecting life and property, and preventing crime. The Uniform Patrol Section shall provide a substantial measure of preliminary investigation in major crimes and enforce laws relating to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, accident investigations, and traffic enforcement activities.
K-9 Unit - The police canine officer's function is to support both the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Sections. The canine unit is under the direct supervision of the Uniform Patrol Section. The police canine shall preserve peace, protect life and property, and prevent crime. The canine unit is trained for Patrol Dog and Narcotics.
Special Operations Division - The Special Operations Section is overseen by the Operations Captain. This section is comprised of of the following units:
- Reserve Unit -
The Reserve Unit is under the direct command of the Operations Captain. Officers assigned to this unit are Reserve I, which is a Sworn position, and Reserve II, with is a Non-Sworn or commonly referred to as Auxiliary Officers. The Reserve Unit assists regular officers in the performance of law enforcement duties; perform law enforcement related functions, which may be assigned during a tour of duty; perform duties of a uniform patrol officer; and augment law enforcement efforts in situations such as riots, natural disasters, emergencies, etc.
Bike Unit - The Bike Team is under the direct command of the Operations Captain in the Uniform Patrol Section. This unit has the same responsibilities as the Uniform Patrol Section, but they may be concentrated to a specific area as assigned by Executive Staff. Bike Officers are expected to implement problem-oriented policing techniques.
Taking Action to Community Trends- TACT is under the command of the Operations Captain. Officers who are members of this unit have demonstrated a proactive approach to Law Enforcement and public safety. TACT Officers address high crime areas and traffic problem areas, as well as an array of other issues that may arise.
Honor Guard- The Honor Guard represents the Zephyrhills Police Department, its officers and families at law enforcement funerals, parades and other ceremonial occasions. The Zephyrhills Police Honor Guard is dedicated to service in all occassions - both solemn and festive
