CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS JOB OPPORTUNITY BULLETIN POSITION TITLE: Assistant Fire Chief JOB LOCATION: Fire Station Two City of Zephyrhills SALARY RANGE: $49,920 - $74,880 Annual Pay Grade 42 FLSA Exempt & Safety Sensitive Position MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A four-year degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public/Business Administration or a field related to emergency management is required. An Associate of Science Degree in Fire Sciences/Emergency Management may satisfy the education requirement above with more than ten years work experience as an executive fire officer. Applicants must have served as an Assistant or Deputy Fire Chief or higher for at least two years or served in an officer's rank of Fire Captain for at least five years. BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF DUTIES: This position is under the general supervision of and reports to the Fire Chief. In the Fire Chief's absence, the individual filling this position reports directly to the City Manager. The selected candidate can expect to provide fire inspection services, manage the Department's ALS non-transport medical services, and perform general Department management functions. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must possess NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 training prior to employment. Additionally, applicants should be a Florida Paramedic, Florida Fire Officer I, Florida Fire Safety Inspector I, and Florida Fire Instructor I. A Certificate of Compliance by the State of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training is required. Applicants must furnish an affirmation of tobacco non-use for the one-year period prior to seeking employment. Select candidates will have a background check completed, undergo drug testing, and complete a physical exam before employment. Possession of a current valid Florida Driver's License is also required before employment.
