|Change is a good thing...
In Zephyrhills, Historic Preservation is a tool that can work alongside new development as an economic driver to revitalize neighborhoods and create better communities.
"There may have been a time when preservation was about saving an old building here or there, but those days are gone. Preservation is in the business of saving communities and the values they embody." - Richard Moe, National Trust for Historic Preservation
About the District...
A National Register of Historic Places listing since 2001, the Zephyrhills Historic District is comprised of 126 contributing structures dating from the 1910's through the 1940's. A majority of the structures are defined as vernacular but several examples of the American Architectural styles can be seen throughout the district. Contributing structures must adhere to the Design Guidelines for Historic Structures and apply for a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) prior to the issuance of any building permits for maintenance, repairs and alterations. Any new construction located within the boundaries of the district must also do the same. This requirement is to ensure that any work or alterations done is not detrimental to the significant character of the district or significant architectural features of the structure itself.
